Wednesday evening was an ideal night for the
23rd running of the Bolton Sunset Canoe and Kayak Race. Thirty three (33)
paddlers from twelve(12) Connecticut towns, Massachusetts and Vermont
competed in nine(9) canoes and nineteen(19) kayaks on either a five mile
figure eight course of lower and middle lakes or a two lap four mile course
on the lower lake. The fastest time was recorded by Brady Kattman,
Glastonbury,:51:20 in a racing kayak. Michelle Cyr and Ted Kenyon,
Jr., Waterford, paddled the fastest canoe, :57:47. Michael Sposito, Columbia
, was awarded the Kenyon
Kup(in recognition of Ted Kenyon,Sr. who started this race in 1985).
Michael's time was :54:48 on the short course. Thanks to the 'crew' who ran
this year's race-- Linda and Brian Lemire and Millie and Ernie Harris of
Bolton , and Geoff Latsha of Windsor.
